Who can apply for a Wired Plastic Visa Prepaid Card?

In compliance with the USA PATRIOT Act* and other laws, anyone who is a US resident over 18 with a valid Social Security number and a verifiable physical US address (no PO boxes or APO addresses) can apply for a Wired Plastic Card. This information must be provided, along with other information pertinent to receiving approval, when applying for a Wired Plastic Card. Currently, we do not issue the Wired Plastic Card to residents of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, or other US territories.

Where can I apply for a Wired Plastic Card?

You can apply for a Wired Plastic Card at www.wiredplastic.com or by contacting Customer Service at 1 (801) 383-1003.

How much does it cost to set up a Wired Plastic Card account?

It costs just $9.95 to set up a Wired Plastic Card account. This one-time Activation Fee will be charged to your Wired Plastic Card account the first time you fund (add cash) to your card.

How long will it take to receive my Wired Plastic Card?

Upon successful identification verification* and approval, your Wired Plastic Card should arrive within 7-10 business days.

Who is the issuing bank?

The Bancorp Bank issues the Wired Plastic Card. However, cardholder accounts are managed by Wired Plastic and individual cardholders do not have a personal bank account with The Bancorp Bank.

Is the Wired Plastic Card a credit card?

No, the Wired Plastic Card is not a credit card. The Wired Plastic Card is a prepaid card. What this means is that you must first add money to your Wired Plastic Card account in order to spend money using your card. You can add money to your Wired Plastic Card at participating retail partners, by direct deposit, or by bank ACH direct load. When you use the Wired Plastic Card, the amount of your purchase is deducted from the loaded balance.

Can I have my Wired Plastic Card sent to a PO Box?

No, the Wired Plastic Card must be sent to a physical and verifiable US address.

After I receive my Wired Plastic Card, how do I activate it?

To activate your Wired Plastic Card, call the toll-free card account information line at 1 (866) 335-4784 and follow the instructions. The call must be made from the phone number you provided during enrollment.

Will the Wired Plastic Card build credit?

No, the Wired Plastic Card will not build credit because it is not a credit card.

Can I have more than one Wired Plastic Card?

You may request an additional Card for another person. The maximum number of additional Cards permitted is six (6). You must notify us to revoke permission for any person you previously authorized to use the Card. If you notify us to revoke another person’s use of the Card, we may revoke your Card and issue a new Card with a different number. You remain liable for any and all usage of an additional Card you authorize. You are the only one permitted to add funds to the additional Card. No other person may add funds to the additional Card. The maximum amount of each load to an additional Card is $300.00 per transaction. The maximum amount that may be loaded to an additional Card is $300.00 per day. The maximum amount that may be transferred by you to additional Cards is limited to $3,000.00 per month. The maximum balance of an additional Card is $2,500.00.

What is Click-n-Pay?

Click-n-Pay is Wired Plastic’s automated payment service. With Click-n-Pay, you can send a one-time or recurring electronic payment to thousands of billers listed in our database or you can send a paper check to anyone. Since the payment amount is immediately deducted from your available balance, you will never incur a bounced check fee.

How do I use Click-n-Pay?

You can access Click-n-Pay to set up billers, send payments, and view a history of payment transactions via your online account or over the phone using our toll-free card account information line.

Whom can I pay using Click-n-Pay?

Unlike most electronic bill pay programs, you can pay anyone using Click-n-Pay. If the person you want to send a payment to is not listed in our biller database, we will send them a paper check on your behalf.

Can I send checks using Click-n-Pay?

Yes, a paper check can be sent to anyone using Click-n-Pay for $0.95.

How much does it cost to use Click-n-Pay?

It costs only $0.45 per electronic payment and $0.95 per paper check when using Click-n-Pay.

Wired Points are our way of rewarding members for using their Wired Plastic Card to pay for everyday expenses.

What can I do with my Wired Points?

You can use Wired Points to purchase prepaid wireless airtime with Verizon, TracFone, Cingular and AT&T.

How do I redeem my Wired Points?

Redeeming your Wired Points is simple. Just log in to your online account, select Redeem Points > Wired Rewards, then choose the product you want to purchase with your Wired Points. If you don’t have enough Wired Points to cover your purchase, the remaining balance can be paid with using the cash in your Wired Plastic Card account.

How do I add cash to my Wired Plastic Card account?

You can add cash to your Wired Plastic Card account in a variety of ways. Adding cash is quick and easy. You can add cash through:

  • Direct Deposit: Have pay, dividends, disability and government checks (i.e., Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, etc.) sent directly to your Wired Plastic Card account, FREE. Your funds are available the same business day they are received.
  • Western Union®: Add cash at over 47,000 Western Union agent locations. Your funds are available within 30 minutes. A retail load fee will apply. [more information]
  • MoneyGram®: Add cash at over 25,000 agent locations. Your funds will post within 30-60 minutes. An agent load fee will apply. [more information]

    Retail Cash Load Fee: $3.95

    1. Visit a Western Union Agent location and complete the gray Western Union Prepaid Services / SwiftPay form using the following information:
      • Account Number: your 16-digit Wired Plastic Card number
      • Pay To Company: Wired Plastic
      • Amount: cash you want to load ($10 minimum, $950 maximum)
    2. Give cash, completed form, and Retail Cash Load Fee to the Western Union Agent (no Checks or credit cards accepted).
    3. Keep the receipt for your records. The funds should post to your Wired Plastic Card account in 10-15 minutes.

    1. Visit a MoneyGram Agent location and complete the blue ExpressPayment form using the following information:
      • Receive Code: 4741
      • Pay To Company: Wired Plastic

      • Amount: cash you want to load ($10 minimum, $999 maximum)
    2. Give cash, completed form, and load fee to the MoneyGram Agent.
    3. Keep the reference number that confirms your transaction for your records. The funds should post to your Wired Plastic Card account in 30-60 minutes.

Can I transfer funds from my Wired Plastic Card account to a bank account?

Yes, you can transfer funds from your Wired Plastic Card account to any authorized US bank account. To do so, just log in to your Wired Plastic online account, then select Send Cash > Money Transfer. (A $0.95 Deposit to a US Bank Account Fee applies.)

What are the loading limits for the Wired Plastic Card?

You may add funds to your Wired Plastic Card, called "value loading", at any time. The minimum amount of each initial value load is $10.00. The minimum amount of each value reload is $10.00. The maximum amount of the initial value load is $2,500.00. The maximum amount of each value reload is $2,500.00. The maximum amount that can be reloaded per day is $2,500.00. All methods of adding cash except direct deposit are subject to this limit. The retail load partner may impose additional limitations on the frequency and amount of load transactions.

How do I find the nearest load location?

To find the load location nearest you, visit the Wired Plastic Store Locator. You can also call the Wired Plastic toll-free card account information line at 1 (866) 335-4784 and select #6 to search by Zip Code.

Questions About Card Account and Card Management

How do I view my card account activity?

You can view your transactions by logging in to your Wired Plastic online account and selecting Card Management > Account Transactions. The Account Transactions page displays a history of transactions and available balance.

What happens if I return something I purchased with my Wired Plastic Card?

When you return something purchased with your Wired Plastic Card, the merchant will credit the amount of the return to your card account. Because returns are handled via the merchant’s bank, credits may take 2-3 business days to appear in your Wired Plastic Card account.

If my Wired Plastic Card is lost or stolen, can somebody use it?

Unfortunately, someone can use your Wired Plastic Card if it is lost or stolen. If you know your card number, call the toll-free card account information line at 1 (866) 335-4784, select the Card Status and Security option (option 3), then select either Lost or Stolen and deactivate your card to prevent unauthorized use. If you do not know your card number, call Customer Service at 1 (801) 383-1003.

If your Wired Plastic Card has been lost or stolen, a replacement Wired Plastic Card will automatically be issued for a Replacement Card Fee of $3.95.

How do I report fraud on my Wired Plastic Card?

In the case of suspected fraud, contact Wired Plastic Customer Service at 1 (801) 383-1003.

How do I check my current balance?

To check your current balance, go to www.wiredplastic.com and log in to your online account. Then, click Card Management > Account Transactions. The Account Transactions page displays a history of transactions and available balance. Also, did you know you can sign up for Wireless Alerts via text message or email? These convenient services alert you of your balance when any card activity occurs. You can sign up for these services from your online account. You can also call the toll-free card account information line at 1 (866) 335-4784.

What if I disagree with my balance total?

If you have a concern or question regarding your Wired Plastic Card account, log in to your Wired Plastic online account and contact Customer Service via the secure Contact Us feature. Or, call Customer Service at 1 (801) 383-1003.

What is the Personal Identification Number (PIN)?

A PIN is a four-digit number that is used when making purchases and obtaining cash. It is a security feature that personalizes your Wired Plastic Card. We recommend you keep this number safe; do not keep it in your wallet, or write it on your Wired Plastic Card.

You will need your PIN if you select "Debit" when you swipe your Wired Plastic Card, but not if you select "Credit". Also, the ATM console will require you to input your PIN when withdrawing money.

You can personalize your PIN by contacting the toll-free card account information line at 1 (866) 335-4784. When you personalize your PIN, choose a number that you are familiar with so you don’t easily forget it.

What if I forget my PIN?

You can reset your PIN by logging in to your Wired Plastic online account at www.wiredplastic.com. Click Account Management > Update Profile and choose Change Personal Identification Number. Or, call Customer Service at 1 (801) 383-1003; they can help you reset and choose a new PIN.

How do I close my Wired Plastic Card account?

To close your Wired Plastic Card account, call Customer Service at 1 (801) 383-1003. You can transfer your remaining balance to another account, or have us send you a check in the mail. You also have the option to withdraw your funds at an ATM (fees included). You must destroy your card or send it to us at PO Box 71402 Salt Lake City, UT 84171.

Will I receive a monthly statement?

No, monthly statements are not sent. But, you can view a history of transactions via your online account at www.wiredplastic.com.

When are customer service representatives available?

Wired Plastic customer service representatives are available by calling 1 (801) 383-1003 Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm Mountain Standard Time. You can also access your account balance or transaction history, report your Wired Plastic Card lost or stolen, pay bills with Click-n-Pay, and charge long distance calls to your card account 24 hours a day by calling the Wired Plastic toll-free card account information line at 1 (866) 335-4784.

Where can I use the Wired Plastic Card?

The Wired Plastic Card is accepted wherever Visa debit cards are accepted worldwide. However, some car rental companies and hotels do not accept prepaid Visa cards.

Can I use the Wired Plastic Card to make reservations at hotels?

Whether your Wired Plastic Card can be used to make a hotel reservation depends on the hotel. When a reservation is made at a hotel, it is called an ‘open end transaction’. What this means is that the total amount due is unknown. The hotel has the right to authorize more than the initial payment to cover damages that could occur during your stay. The hotel can place a hold on these funds for 60 days. Many times the card will not have sufficient funds to cover additional charges; for this reason some hotels do not accept prepaid cards. However, some hotels will accept prepaid cards under special rules; therefore, we recommend you contact the hotel and inquire about their prepaid card policy.

Can I use the Wired Plastic Card to rent a car?

Whether your Wired Plastic Card can be used to rent a car depends on the rental agency. When you make a car reservation, it’s called an ‘open end transaction’. What this means is that the total amount due is unknown. The agency has the right to authorize more than the initial payment to cover fuel refills or damages that occurred during your rental. The car rental agency can place a hold on these funds for 90 days. Many times the card will not have sufficient funds to cover additional charges; for this reason some car rental agencies do not accept prepaid cards. However, some car rental agencies will accept prepaid cards under special rules; therefore, we recommend you first call the rental agency and inquire about their prepaid card policy.

Can I use the Wired Plastic Card to purchase gas at the pump?

Yes, you can use your Wired Plastic Card to purchase gas at the pump, but to do so you must have a $125 balance. If you don’t have a $125 balance, your card will be declined. If you want to buy gas without a $125 balance, go inside and have the cashier enter the amount you would like to buy.

Can I spend more money than I have on the card?

No, you can't spend more than what is available on your Wired Plastic Card. Your Wired Plastic Card will be accepted only if you have enough money on it to cover your purchase.
